Unit topic: Snow Sports
During term 3 our Level 2 students will participate in our snow sports programme based at Treble Cone. They will focus on developing either their Skiing or Snowboarding. They will have an opportunity to sit their assessment at an intermediate or advanced level based on approval of their snow sports instructor.
This unit will be assessed with one of the following unit standards:
US 4591 Alpine ski downhill on intermediate terrain - Level 3, Credits 8, Version 5
- Students credited with this unit standard are able to alpine ski intermediate terrain at a snowsport area, and adhere to safe skiing practices.
- People credited with this unit standard are able to snowboard on a minimum of one intermediate run at a snowsport area, and adhere to safe snowboard practices.
*If students demonstrate the above skills early in the unit and also demonstrate enough skill Acquisition, then they can be invited to sit the next level of assessment:
US 4592 Alpine ski downhill on advanced terrain - Level 4, Credits 12, Version 5
- Students credited with this unit standard are able to alpine ski advanced terrain at a snowsport area, and adhere to safe skiing practices.
US 18104 Snowboard on advanced terrain - Level 4, Credits 12, Version 5
- People credited with this unit standard are able to snowboard on a minimum of one Advanced run at a snowsport area, and adhere to safe snowboard practices.
- Demonstrate knowledge of safe skiing equipment and practices
- Ski on intermediate terrain
- Ski on advanced terrain (*see note above)
- Demonstrate knowledge of safe boarding equipment and practices
- Snowboard on intermediate terrain
